Is Uber Available in Egypt?

Partly, Uber works in some cities

Uber's current official directory lists Alexandria, Cairo, Damietta, Hurghada, Mansoura, Canal Cities, Tanta and Zagazig. It does not list Luxor, Aswan or Sharm el Sheikh, so travelers there need a different live transport plan.

A ride app removes the roadside fare negotiation, but no single service covers every Egyptian destination.

Uber's rider directory lists Alexandria, Cairo, Damietta, Hurghada, Mansoura, Canal Cities, Tanta and Zagazig. inDrive's current Egyptian App Store listing adds important tourist gaps, including Luxor, Aswan and Sharm el Sheikh. DiDi and Careem are useful live comparisons where the booking screen offers a car. Bolt is no longer a current option: its official global directory omits Egypt, and Egyptian business press reported that it exited the market in March 2026.

Choose cash or card before requesting and keep the agreement inside the app. A digitally paid ride should not be paid again in cash. At Cairo International Airport, use the terminal-specific pickup directions shown after booking and reject anyone soliciting an off-app trip. Match the driver, car and plate, confirm that the ride has started, then share the live route.

Carry small Egyptian-pound notes for a cash booking. For Saqqara, Dendera, a pre-dawn transfer or another trip where the return car matters, arrange a reputable hotel or licensed driver instead of assuming the app will supply the second leg.
